DIETARY ADVICE FOR SGOT AND SGPT PATIENT
The SGOT and SGPT are the liver test which are done to assess the function of liver or to assess any injury caused by the liver. Amino transferase catalyzes chemical reaction which involve amino acid , here it has been found that amino group is transfered from the donar amino acid to recipient molecule . The liver damaged is generally detected by performing simple liver tests that help us to determine the liver enzyme present in the blood. The two amino transferase which are generally checked are alanine amino transferase ( SGPT or AST) and aspertate amino transferase (SGOT or AST)
Dietary advices-
- Avoid high fat food- Fatty food are generaly hard to be processed by the liver. Some fat are consider to be normal but in special condition where liver have more fat than 10 & then this situation is known as the fatty liver. Presence of this fatty cell can lead to inflamation of the liver and it also damages the surrounding of the liver tissue. When the liver is damaged then , liver cell releases SGPT into the blood stream and it increases it’s level. It is best to avoid the fatty foods like cheese , butter , coconut oil , junk food , carbonated drinks , chicken skin , pork , deep fried food items.
- Avoid high sodium or salt in main diet- It has been found that exessive amount salt consumtion can effect body especially liver , it causes fluid retention and swelling. It makes liver harder to filter waste . The toxin stored in the liver can cause damages in the liver , it alows SGPT to pass from the liver to the blood stream. The foods which should be avoided are soy sauce , salt , bouilon cubes , bacon , salami , pickled food , canned food , stored food , dry foods like dry fish , dry coastal fish like srimps , prawns , crabs. It is better to avoid salt in many dishes. Salt is used extensively in many foods which are cooked professionally it is better to opt for home made food where salt can be given in limited amount. The salt intake should not be more than 2300 mg per day that count to be 1 tea spoon in a day.
- Avoid drinking alcohol and alcoholic beverages - Alcohol is quiet dangerous for the liver . Prolonged drinking alcohol can shut down the liver process . When alcohol is consumed then it mixed with blood then it get recieved and filtered in our blood stream. Then toxin present in the liver gets filtered. Alcohol consumption can lead to hepatitis , fatty liver and liver cirrhosis. Avoiding alcohol turn out to be beneficial for the patient.
- Eat plant based and nutrient rich food- eating healthy food can clean the toxin and keep our body healthy. Liver will get less toxin and SGPT wont seep in the blood stream.
